Nattarbete is based around the work of Esaias Jarnegard and his collaboration with Ruin (Pontus Langendorf and Richard Craig). Jarnegard’s uncompromising exploration of literature, in particular the work of Lars Noren, has fostered a reductive but direct musical language in which scrutinty of timbre and colour from both objects (flute and percussion) are placed into an asperous yet lucid surrounding. Inward, a movement from Opening of the Mouth pronounces Paul Celan, also of influence to Noren, as a source of inspiration. Alongside these we have Dominik Karski’s approach: a synthesis of the movement and line of the human voice, sieved through the instrument.
