Os jústi for solo flute 2008

os jústi stems from my larger work LECTIO DIVINA, using the earliest structural materials from that work and the Intriot from a Mass for an Abbot (St. Benedict) – Os jústi meditábitur sapiéntiam… Beginning as sketches of gesture and human language and infused to the performer’s embouchure. Since this language is incomplete these soundings through the flute seek a defining clarity becoming percussive and pitchless. The instrument becomes something of a “talkbox”, though ultimately more elegant.
