PROGRAMME 4: DE RERUM NATURA
Oscar Bianchi’s work De Rerum Natura is the focus of this programme. One of the few flute and violin duos, De Rerum Natura pursues an almost alchemical pairing of the instruments in various states of volatility and equilibrium. In antipodes to this we have the L’art de Toucher le Clavecin, a brittle episode, unfolding layers of ornamentation in which the original object (piccolo), is spared the traditional retoric for a more poised and focussed role. The programme is framed by Berio’s Sequenza for flute, violin and solo works by Sciarrino.
Karin Hellqvist: violin
Luciano Berio: Sequenza I for flute
Luciano Berio: Sequenza VII for violin
Evan Johnson: L’art de toucher le clavecin
Salvatore Sciarrino: Caprice for solo violin
Salvatore Sciarrino: Lettera Degli Antipodi Portata dal Vento for flute
Oscar Bianchi: De Rerum Natura for flute and violin
