Metaxu is an improvisation group based around flute/s and prepared piano (Johan Zakrisson) and percussion (Pontus Langendorf). The size and instrumentation of the group varies, but the aesthetic of unearthing discarded sounds and gestures which have been separated from “music” remains the focus.
The result is perhaps closer in nature to electronic music than acoustic music, but retaining a fragility alongside a concise and concentrated use of sound and gesture.
